The US Energy Policy Act sets stringent standards for dry-type distribution transformers, in order to improve the energy efficiency of all industry. Data centres are not exempt from its requirements, which are explained in detail in this white paper.

The paper is designed to assist data center managers, designers and engineers to understand how critical these issues have become and how to address the challenge providing efficient power protection and distribution for growing loads, without generating yet more heat.

The paper also explains the technical qualities that are desirable in transformers that and the contribution these devices can make towards helping data centres become more efficient.
